| Objetivo y campo de aplicación Esta Norma Mexicana describe un proceso para identificar, evaluar, abordar, tomar decisiones y comunicar los riesgos potenciales del desarrollo y uso de nanomateriales manufacturados, con el fin de proteger la salud y la seguridad del público, los consumidores, los trabajadores y el medio ambiente. Si bien el proceso general de administración y gestión de los productos establecido en este Informe Técnico no es exclusivo de los nanomateriales, complementa los enfoques reconocidos proporcionando, cuando es posible, un enfoque en la información y las cuestiones específicas de las nanotecnologías. Ofrece orientación sobre la información necesaria para realizar evaluaciones sólidas del riesgo y las decisiones de gestión de riesgos, así como sobre cómo manejar frente a la información incompleta o incierta mediante el uso de suposiciones razonables y prácticas adecuadas de gestión de riesgos. Además, incluye métodos para actualizar suposiciones, decisiones y prácticas a medida que se dispone de nueva información, y sobre cómo comunicar información y decisiones a las partes interesadas. Esta Norma Mexicana sugiere métodos que las organizaciones pueden usar para ser transparentes y responsables en cómo manejan los nanomateriales. Para ello, describe un proceso de organización, documentación y comunicación de lo que las organizaciones de información tienen sobre los nanomateriales. Esto incluye reconocer dónde está incompleta la información, explicar cómo se abordaron las brechas de información y explicar la razón de las decisiones y acciones de la organización en materia de gestión de riesgos. | |
